The public catalog currently has a permalink option, which cleans up the URL in the location bar to make it a shorter, more direct link, changing something like this: https://demo.evergreencatalog.com/eg/opac/record/248?query=cline;qtype=keyword;locg=1;detail_record_view=0;_adv=1;page=0
to this: https://demo.evergreencatalog.com/eg/opac/record/248?locg=1

But it’s not obvious to users what’s happening here — it’s more common for a permalink option to show the permalink on the screen right under the permalink option, often with one click copying.

It’s especially important to be clear about the permalink since many licensed library resources use session-based links that do not function as permalinks.
